That’s the opinion of former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.

Real Madrid are reportedly keen to sign Paul Pogba, but must do so before the transfer window closes.

With the window slamming shut for Premier League clubs on Thursday at 5pm, Madrid only have a few days remaining to do a deal.

On Monday, it was reported that they had seen an opening bid for the Frenchman turned down by Manchester United, after offering up £27million as well as James Rodriguez in exchange.

But United are demanding a higher fee up front, and are reluctant to let the star leave.

Madrid recognise that, despite the transfer window for Spanish clubs closing on September 2, they have to agree a deal with United before Thursday’s deadline.

And Hislop stated on ESPN FC that he believes the Frenchman will not put up a fight if the transfer falls through.

“I think Paul Pogba will continue to give his absolute best for Man Utd if he stays,” he said.

“As much as he wants to go, he doesn’t impress me as the type of person or player who will throw all his toys out the pram, and won’t try for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United.

“He’ll continue to give [his best].

“He wasn’t at his best [last season]. But I don’t think that was as a result of him being upset with the club or some sort of on field protest.

“It was just a case of him not playing well.”

United have reportedly sounded out Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen as a replacement for Pogba, should he leave.

They are also said to still be targeting Sporting CP’s Bruno Fernandes.

However, Madrid are also reportedly looking at Fernandes as an alternative to Pogba.
