The Frenchman starred for Lyon last season, establishing himself as one of the most dominant central midfielders in Ligue 1.

Ndombele, 21, has resultantly garnered interest from a host of top European clubs, with Tottenham leading the chase.

And in an interview with French television show Telefoot, Ndombele spoke about Spurs.

“Yes, it’s true that Tottenham are a great team,” he admitted.

“They are a big club, they finished fourth in their league, they reached the Champions League final, they are still a big club like any other.

“Which player would not be interested in a big club?”

Ndombele’s contract at Lyon runs until 2023 and the club are not willing to let him go for less than £67million.

As for when a move may occur, the France international said: “I am focused on what I have to do on the field.

“I’ll go on vacation, I’ll rest my head, we’ll see after.

“I’m going to go on my holidays. And after that I’ll try to see what I can do.”

Tottenham have not signed anyone since Lucas Moura arrived in north London in January 2018.

Despite looming repayment deadlines on their £1bn stadium, Levy is expected to invest in the transfer market should Spurs raise funds through sales.

Christian Eriksen displayed his openness to leaving Tottenham following the Champions League final loss to Liverpool while left-back Danny Rose has also admitted he could leave.

Ndombele is one of four players Mauricio Pochettino is keen to sign, including Ajax playmaker Donny van de Beek, Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo and Fulham wideman Ryan Sessegnon.
