MANILA, Philippines – Calvin Abueva admitted being in the wrong regarding two separate incidents which got him suspended indefinitely by the PBA, Phoenix head coach Louie Alas said.

The Fuel Masters mentor bared the controversial forward is set to issue a letter to league commissioner Willie Marcial on Monday, June 17.

“He’s remorseful. He knows he’s wrong,” Alas said of Abueva in a mix of Filipino and English after Phoenix pulled off a 78-76 escape over Alaska in the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday, June 15.

The PBA cracked the whip on Abueva, who was also fined a total of P70,000, after he figured in an on-court spat with Maika Rivera, girlfriend of Blackwater rookie Ray Parks.

Abueva allegedly called Rivera a “b**ch” and was seen on camera making mastubatory gestures towards her.

In the next game, Abueva was involved in another hullabaloo after getting thrown out for clotheslining TNT import Terrence Jones.

“I told him he should allow himself to be crucified, but the Holy Week is over. Kidding aside, he said he should not have retaliated,” Alas said.

While the Fuel Masters managed to snap their 3-game skid, Alas said they are missing the services of Abueva, who averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists before his suspension.

“Of course we’re missing his presence but after his suspension, he has not joined us in practice since.”

Still without Abueva, Phoenix (2-3) will shoot for a second straight win when it meets Magnolia (1-2) at the Cuneta Astrodome next Saturday, June 22. –
