Princess Diana’s love life was constantly the subject of speculation, during and after her marriage to future King of Britain Prince Charles, 70.

Her romance with Dodi al Fayed is one of her most famous because the pair were together when they died in a car accident.

However, Diana had recently split with another man, Hasnat Khan, just weeks earlier.

Khan, 61, is a heart a lung surgeon who was born in Pakistan.

The medic was in a relationship with Diana for two years, and the former Princess of Wales was said to be smitten with the man. However, their relationship came to an end in June 1997.

It has been reported that the Diana referred to him as “Mr Wonderful” and Khan attended her funeral.

A statement written by Khan at the inquest into Diana’s death stated they began the romance in 1995 and the pair had discussed marriage.

Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler, told in the inquest that the royal called Khan her “soulmate” and “the man she loved more than any other”.

Paul claimed the pair split after breaking up in Battersea Park due to the fact that Khan didn’t want to live life in the spotlight.

Paul said of Diana’s short romance with Dodi al Fayed: “I think she was still burning a candle for Mr Khan.

“She knew that the photos of her (with Dodi) were being transmitted around the world and she knew very well that Mr Khan’s daily routine was to go to his local shop and pick up the national newspapers, and that was her message, I believe, to Mr Khan, to say ‘well, look at me now, look where I am’.”

Princess Diana’s death was found to have been caused by a small but life threatening expert, a pathologist found.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Dr Shepherd: “Diana’s was a very small injury – but in the wrong place. Diana’s death is a classic example of the way we say, after almost every death: if only.

“If only she had hit the seat in front at a slightly different angle. If only she had been thrown forward 10mph more slowly.

“If only she had been put in an ambulance immediately. But the biggest if only, in Diana’s case, was within her own control.”

He said that it is likely Diana would have survived the crash, had she been wearing her seatbelt.

Princess Diana’s jewellery was worn by Kate Middleton recently in Dundee. The earrings were given to her as a wedding present by Prince William, 36.

The stunning gems are a pair of sapphire earrings. The deep blue precious stones are ringed with sparking diamonds.

An expert revealed to just how much these earrings are worth, and it’s a small fortune.
