Philippines earthquake magnitude 6 hits Tutubigan on Ring of Fire | World | News

A 6.5 magnitude tremor hit 138 miles north-east of Cebu City. Separately a strong earthquake struck Samar, the third largest island in the Philippines. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivocs) said the second the earthquake happened at 1.37pm local time. Powerful tremors were felt in Tacloban City, Catbalogan City and Samar and the quake also rocked Masbate City, Legazpi City and Sorsogon City and Cebu.

Phivocs also warned of imminent aftershocks.

The Philippines is still on high alert after a deadly 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck near the town of Bodega on the island of Luzon yesterday.

Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda said at least eight people in the province were killed in the quake which as felt in the capital of Manila as well as other parts of Luzon.
