Royal photographer Arthur Edwards said their move was “not a surprise” after their isolated existence on Vancouver Island was “never going to work” as they felt “cut off” from the outside world. Although Canada is in the Commonwealth, Mr Edwards felt it was never somewhere they would remain permanently as an ambitious young couple.

He told The Sun: “They tried palace life in Britain but it didn’t work out. So they have switched from Harry’s home town to Meghan’s.

“In a way it’s exchanging one goldfish bowl for another but it’s a city where Meghan has deep personal and professional connections.

“In LA they’ll be close to Meghan’s mum Doria – her only family member at her wedding to Harry – who will love having Archie so close.”

Los Angeles is where Meghan Markle grew up while her father Thomas Markle worked as a television director and director of photography.

It is also where she has maintained her team of agents and PRs throughout her marriage.

Meghan also has many A list friends who reside in Los Angeles, including Oprah Winfrey and Ellen Degeneres.

The bombshell move comes as Disney announced yesterday it was pushing up the release of a new elephant documentary voiced over by the duchess.

He speculated that Meghan could decide to “tell-all” in a book or big interview.

Another thing that Mr Ship was adamant about is that the pair will not disappear for long.

He said: “If they want to achieve all the things they want to achieve, and I will come to that shortly, they need to capitalise on their current high profile.

“Right now, it couldn’t be any higher.

“Here is an American woman, who in the space of less than two years, joined the Royal Family and then decided she wanted to leave it.

“That creates a huge amount of interest in this individual.

“Meghan could decide to tell all, to write a book, to do a big interview.

And now Ladbrokes has placed odds that Meghan’s Disney documentary could win her acclaim at the Oscars.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: ‘It hasn’t taken long for the Duchess to get back into the Hollywood scene after quitting the Royal Family, however, it’s an outside chance the documentary finds success at the Oscars.”
