M5 CLOSED: Traffic queueing back 10 MILES after northbound crash – air ambulance on route | UK | News

The M5 has been shut northbound between J7 for Worcester South and J6 for Worcester North following a traffic accident. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, are on the scene. Confirming the closure, Highways England tweeted: “All lanes are blocked on the #M5 Northbound between J7 #WorcesterSouth & J6 #WorcesterNorth due to a multi-vehicle traffic collision.

“Emergency vehicles en route. Expect delays.

“If you’re caught within the #M5 Northbound J7 #Worcestersouth and J6 #WorcesterNorth closure, we’re working with Police to get you clear from the carriageway as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.”

Two people have reportedly been taken to hospital.

The incident is said to have taken place at 1.48pm and involved two cars and a van on the northbound carriageway.

A West Midlands Ambulance Serivce spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered two cars and a van that had suffered significant damage, as well as a number of other cars that had suffered minor damage.

“There were two patients, the drivers of the two cars that had suffered the most damage.

“A man was assisted out of his vehicle by members of the ambulance and fire services, whilst a woman managed to get herself out of her car.

“They were both treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being transported to Worcester Royal Hospital by land ambulances.


“No-one else involved in the incident suffered any injuries.”

The collision caused 10 miles of queues shortly before 5pm, with congestion back to the M50 juncition on the Gloucestershire border.

Delays also affected the M5 southband as motorists slowed down to look at the scene.

All lanes have since reopened.
