Kawhi Leonard: LeBron James can do one thing to ensure Lakers beat Clippers to free agent | Other | Sport

That’s according to Lakers reporter Harrison Faigen, who believes James could use his influence on Space Jam 2 to persuade Leonard to join him at the Lakers.

Leonard will be one of the most coveted free agents come the offseason, with several reports suggesting he will leave the Toronto Raptors, no matter what they achieve in the playoffs.

They Raptors are close to booking their place in the Conference semi-finals after Leonard led Toronto to victory in Game 4 against the Orlando Magic with an impressive 34 points.

They are likely to face the Philadelphia 76ers in the next round, who hold a 3-1 lead over the Brooklyn Nets.

But while Toronto will be concentrating on trying to reach the NBA Finals to make their case for Leonard to re-sign with them, recent reports have suggested the 2014 NBA Finals MVP still favours a move back home to Los Angeles.

The Lakers tried trading for Leonard last summer, only for the San Antonio Spurs to reject their offer.

All season long the Clippers have been sending representatives and team executives to watch Leonard in action, in the hope of making it clear to him how much they want to sign him.

And it seems the Clippers are strong favourites to beat the Lakers to the signature of Leonard.

However, Faigen believes James has one key ace up his sleeve which could tip the scales in favour of the Lakers.

“The only thing that makes me think this is a possibility is that all these plugged in guys have been saying, ‘well it looks like the Clippers’,” he said on the Silver Screen and Roll podcast.

“I just wonder… Kawhi does not seem like he’s an easy guy to read.

“So how do they know? And how much do the people in Kawhi’s life decide where he’s going to play and how much do they know with a guy that keeps stuff close to his chest?

“Other than LeBron being able to throw some of his Space Jam 2 money at him.

“Those are the main reasons I think there’s still a chance the Lakers could end up with Kawhi.”
