Juventus team news vs Ajax: Predicted line up – Ronaldo injury update, key duo sidelined | Football | Sport

Ronaldo has returned to training following a thigh injury and is in contention to feature against Ajax at the Amsterdam Arena.

The Portuguese ace has been sidelined since March 25 but is now ready to return against the Dutch outfit as Juve look to book their spot in the Champions League semi-finals.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri says he is “confident” Ronaldo will be fit enough to feature, having been rested for the 2-1 win over AC Milan at the weekend.

The 34-year-old has missed the past four matches but is expected to make his comeback against Ajax, while Douglas Costa is also available after injury.

However, captain Giorgio Chiellini trained alone on Monday and has been left out of the travelling squad after suffering a calf injury.

Andrea Barzagli has not started since October so Daniele Rugani is most likely to get the nod alongside Leonardo Bonucci.

Emre Can is also out with an ankle problem, having trained separately on Tuesday, while Juan Cuadrado and Mattia Perin remain sidelined.

Sami Khedira has recovered from fitness issues and is available for Allegri, although the Juve boss is expected to deploy Rodrigo Bentancur alongside Miralem Pjanic and Blaise Matuidi.

Alex Sandro has returned from suspension and should come in at left-back, although Matuidi and Federico Bernardeschi are both one booking away from bans of their own.

Despite this, the latter could be preferred to Paulo Dybala in attack after getting the nod in the previous round against Atletico.

Boise Kean has five goals in his last five matches for club and country but will have to make way for Mario Mandzukic in attack.

Ajax defeated Ronaldo’s former side Real Madrid in the last round and come into the match on a three-match winning run.
