The Brexiteer was fuming after the ruling was secured by a majority of just one vote, dealing another blow to Theresa May’s government. The motion instructs the Government to seek an extension on Article 50 in order to avoid a no deal Brexit. But reacting angrily on Twitter, Mr Farage raged that he would continue the battle for Brexit.

He wrote: “How can a single vote in Parliament supersede the 1.3 million vote majority for Brexit?

“It is now clear we will have to fight our political classes again.

“I’m up for it.”

The House of Commons passed the motion on its third reading, by 313 MPs to 312.

The Government had not supported it, which was presented by Labour’s Yvette Cooper and Tory Sir Oliver Lewin.

The motion will now be moved to the House of Lords, where it will likely get approval.

Other Brexiteers also vented their frustration in a debate following the vote.

Peter Bone, who opposes any Brexit delay, told Speaker John Bercow to “make this farce stop”.

European Research Group’s Steve Bake also alleged that the vote would be “no use whatsoever” and urged the Lords to “give it the level of scrutiny which this house hasn’t”.

Once the House of Lords passes the motion, it will become legally binding.

The move will significantly reduce the chances of a no deal EU exit.

Experts suggest this could take place as early as today.
